Drew Jurecka is a Toronto-based accomplished violinist who is skilled in many genres. He has spent the last ten years playing jazz, pop, rock and other contemporary styles in Toronto. Mr. Jurecka is in high demand, not only as an accomplished jazz and session violinist, but also as an arranger, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Though violin is his primary instrument, he also works frequently as a performer and recording sideman on viola, saxophone, clarinet and mandolin.
Mr. Jurecka trained classically at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with David Updegraff. Drew has performed, recorded, and arranged for a broad spectrum of artists in many genres including Dave Brubeck, Donovan Woods, Buffy St Marie, Ron Sexsmith, and has played, written or arranged on more than 150 records, including several JUNO winning and Grammy nominated albums. While at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, he had the opportunity to play at the Hollywood Bowl with Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves, and Shirley Horn. Drew is a faculty member at Humber College where he has helped to develop a unique jazz strings program.
