This reunion is not to be missed! The internationally acclaimed Afiara Quartet, known for its dynamic energy and fearless artistry, takes the stage alongside MitM’s past-artistic director Barry Shiffman in a program that celebrates the thrill of chamber music—and new commissions.
Hear the West Coast premiere of renowned composer Osvaldo Golijov’s string quintet Tintype, co-commissioned by MitM. Afiara will also give the world premiere of an MitM-commissioned string quartet by Grammy Award-winning composer Pascal Le Boeuf.
In a program of premieres anchored by the powerful Brahms Sextet in G Major, these long-time friends explore the great masterpieces while bringing fresh perspectives to the repertoire. The Brahms Sextet will introduce our audience to rising star cellist, Canon Shibata.
